Prevention Frameworks

Today’s prevention professionals are able to utilize a variety of evidence-based programs and intervention strategies to provide the most effective services for individuals and communities.  In order to make the best use of these programs and strategies, it is important for Preventionists to understand the science and research frameworks underlie their work.

Three frameworks form the basis of most modern prevention approaches:

  • Risk and Protective Factors
  • Developmental Assets
  • CSAP’s Strategic Prevention Framework.

Through examples and group activities participants in this training will become familiar with using these frameworks to implement prevention strategies, adapt interventions to meet the needs of their participants or choose appropriate evidence-based programs for their communities.

Target Audience: This is a BASIC training for those with minimal experience in prevention.
